More than Strangers

The sun shines brighter lately, your nose ring glinted across the window, lightening one eye into looking light brown, the other a dark shade of wood. Twisted hoops of golden shone a small white spot on the front leather seat.

You kept humming old Usher songs, tapping your heels on the rubber footing. Your fingers drummed against your shoulder bags, your hair tied up loose for you to push behind your ear occasionally; your one look travels dangers.

I gulp and look in the front window to see you catch my glimpses from time to time and then you... Then you smile. The sun shines brighter, my heart feels warmer. These twenty minutes down the road, I foresee so much more that I want suddenly, crossing fingers to meet.

Your destination comes before mine, I had hoped these minutes would drag longer at a traffic light. You straighten your kurti, set your hair and your eyes smile when you step out. Before you shut the door, you look at me- a wink. God, I wish we could've been more than strangers.
