I fell in love with the rain the day my mother put a name to the smell after the first show. The eerie silence in the air and the numbness in the soil, that drenched smell. The shower created this happy bubble around me and I lived in it. Slowly I realized that the rain was not only about this happy bubble I always lived in. As I grew up I realized there are 4 kinds of rain. Firstly, it was the first downpour of the season. New beginnings, life, and what poets and authors write about. This rain was the one that cleaned everything, the plants radiated life, the terrace got actually cleaned, and the dust settled down. Besides this superficial clarity, this rain also lucidifies our mind. The diamond of the first water; was the bubble I made around rain.

The other rain is the one where it rains all night. Heavens pour till the sun sets foot. The whole atmosphere remains quiet. There is a weirdly settling silence in the drizzles.

It's the loneliness that does not hurt but brings peace. Not a thing you hear not a thing you think not a thing you feel. I can stay up all night listening to the rain not attentive not distracted just light footsteps and thin drizzle. Third was the one where it just shamelessly pours all day. When the day is still leaving and the night is yet to arrive. No steady speed just a continuous flow of water. The wet asphalt shines in the sun and beams in the moonlight that form of rain. The slow days when you are busy yet there is this tranquility around you.

And lastly, the one when the sky dresses up for murder and the clouds weep in agony. The one that destroys houses and breaks pots. The fury of water crashing on us. The rains tell us more about humans than we know. The excitement, peace, acceptance, and rage we go through. It is not only the rain that has 4 forms it is we who live in these forms.
